Monday's Update

MONDAY

Nothing really to post about today except that Desi passed her TB test, so we are clear to leave Guangzhou for Hong Kong on Thursday as scheduled. Of course, as I've found out during this trip, something unexpected can always happen so your prayers for our Consulate appointment to go well and for her Visa to be ready to go Thursday in time for us to catch our train to Hong Kong are greatly appreciated.

She continues to allow me to get a little closer each day. Bath time has become somewhat of a really good bonding time for us. She likes to have lotion put on and she starts to giggle before I ever even touch her. The past couple fo days she has started jumping off the bed and running around the room while I chase her. Good times:-)

Only two more full days here in Guangzhou. I am ready to come home. Eating continues to be a major issue as there's not many "familiar" restaurants in this area and I'm not brave enough to venture out too far on my own. Being alone kind of limits your choices -- especially being a woman. Thankfully some of the families have allowed me to tag along with them. Ordering room service is very expensive so I'm trying to take things out of the cafe from breakfast to tide us over until dinner time. I miss chocolate so bad:-) Hopefully someone in my family will bring me a Diet Dr. Pepper and a Twix to the airport on Friday night -- hint, hint!!!!

Still trying to track down Tony Dorsett:-)

***I am uploading the pictures she sent us...she is very intrigued I think by the animals they have for sale?

  1. If memory serves the animal market within walking distance to Shamain Island is the Qing Ping Market. It was really neat when Bryan and I walked around in 2003. . . .

All the different animals were interesting. 1 of our guides in Guangzhou told us that as long as it's belly isn't facing heaven, then they will eat it.

Prayers for smooth rest of the trip! Excited to see you all at the airport.
