A Day Full of Ice Cream and Joy

TUESDAY

Today we didn't have anything to do until 2 so Desi and I ate a late breakfast and then came back to the room and took a little nap. At 2 we boarded the bus for the Ying He Garden. The way our guide Kelly talked, this was a very small but beautiful garden. Oh my was she way off base. What an amazing and beautiful garden this was!!!! We were able to spend a couple of hours there and the pictures could never, ever do this place justice. It was just so beautiful. Desi loved being outside and had such a good time.

As we were leaving all the parents bought the kids ice cream. I bought what I thought was a vanilla cone but it ended up being pineapple. YUMMY!!!! Desi and I were fighting over it:-) She finally won out but man it was good!!!

After we left there it was off to Shamian Island for more shopping. I had mine completed so I took another family to my favorite store. I think Sasha spent well over $100!!!! Jenny's Place is definitely the place to go to buy all your Chinese daughter's needs. We ate dinner at Lucy's. I ordered Desi the same mashed potatoes we fed Jenna back in 2005 and she loved them too. She actually licked the bowl they came in. I have to admit, they are VERY good.

Kelly told us when we left she wanted to take us to see a TV tower. Ummmm,,,,ok. I was thinking this was a pretty stupid idea. WRONG!!! They took us to a new part of Guangzhou and the buildings were all lit up and this TV tower. Well it has a restaurant at the top of it and it was quite possibly one of the coolest things I've seen here in China. We also took pictures of the new amphitheater and Opera House. It was so awesome to get up close to such amazing places at night. Such a beautiful sight.

Desi continues to get better and better each day. I am amazed at how much she has changed in just the past 4 days. It's like we have done a complete 360 degree turn. What was this sad, pitiful little child has now become this funny, loud, happy little girl that is having the time of her life. I'm just afraid she's going to think 5 star hotels and breakfast buffets are normal. LOL Hopefully she won't be too disappointed to find cereal and frozen waffles for breakfast when we get home!!!!

Tomorrow is our Consulate appointment. We leave here at 9 for our appointment at 10. It's our last full day here in Guangzhou as we leave for Hong Kong on the BULLET TRAIN Thursday afternoon. I am really, really excited about riding this train. So are the other parents!!!! Just 3 more days and we'll be home. 3 more days!!!!

***I no longer have any desire to my schoolwork. We just count down the hours til they get home. Unfortunatley finals are next week. Oh well! -Devan
