Finally in Guangzhou!

My mom and Desi have finally made it to Guangzhou and my mom is much happier with life. Here is an update from her we got this morning!

Desi and I got up this morning and headed down for breakfast and what did we see????? WHITE PEOPLE!!! AMERICANS!!!! Yippee!!!! I have never been so happy in my life than I was to see people that spoke English:-) I found Frank and Lisa and had breakfast with them. Desi ate a ton of watermelon and we both ate like we hadn't eaten in days.

We met our group downstairs at 10:00. What an amazing group of people I'm here with. All the children have special needs and are just the cutest things ever. We have kids with cleft lip and cleft palate, blind, deaf, missing fingers, missing a foot and a meningocele. It's definitely an assortment of special needs and I'm not the only one who is being rejected, so that makes me feel a little better too.

After boarding the bus we headed for Shamian Island. There we took Desi's Visa photo, rented a stroller and had her medical exam. She didn't cry at all during the whole thing. The only real "oops" was when they stuck the needle in her arm for the TB test. She spilled her Cheerios all over the floor. Poor thing:-( She still didn't cry though. Made it through like a champ.

Next is a ton of paperwork that has to be completed and then we're getting together with the group for dinner. It's so nice not to have to eat alone:-) Desi actually came to me, without being prompted, and asked to sit in my lap. Another baby step:-) She's pretty happy now too because she got 3 new pairs of squeaky shoes. Oh my, she keeps bouncing around the room making them squeak. I might have to go back and get more as they were only $6/pr!!!! I love Guangzhou!!! Seriously, I do:-) It's so nice to be able to see the sky here. Real blue sky!!!! My cough has already gotten better just getting away from Lanzhou.

Tomorrow we visit the Chen Family Temple. Not exactly sure what this is but just getting out and doing things has helped our attitude!!!!

Before I forget, you will NEVER guess who's in the hotel with us. I almost peed my pants when I found out. TONY DORSETT!!!!!! Yes, the Dallas Cowboys former running back. Winner of Dancing With The Stars!!!!! I haven't seen him yet but one of my travel mates was standing right beside him this morning as they were waiting on their omelets. Apparently he's here trying to promote American football. If I see him I am going to ask for a photo!!!!

First plane ride!

Eating herself a biscuit :)

We love her silly faces!

Getting her physical exam!

She only weighs 30 lbs!

The same doctor that gave Jenna her physical!

TB test-no fun

She is beautiful. So beautiful.
