How is she doing?

I wanted to give everyone an update on our precious baby girl. She finally seems to be growing a little bit. At her doctor's visit a couple of weeks ago she weighed in at a whopping 33 lbs. She was 30 lbs at her exit medical exam in Guanzhou in December. No, it's not a lot, but at least we're gaining a little bit of weight. She is growing taller so the food she's eating is going somewhere:-) We are currently working on getting her into Shriner's Hospital in Shreveport so they can give us an assessment of her arm and spina bifida. We hope she is a good candidate for a prosthetic device because she is talking more and more about her "little arm". Oh, and a little girl made a not-so-nice comment about her arm the other day. I kept my head down as the daddy whisked her out of the room. Unfortunately she will be going to school with this little girl since we were both there for the pre-school assessment. Hopefully her daddy had a good talk with her and there won't be any more negative comments. I would dare to say that Desi is completely attached to her momma:-) She comes to me numerous times during the day to give hugs and kisses and to tell me "I lub you bury mush momma" (I love you very much momma). She is still working on her attachment with Steve, but it is moving forward, even if it is slowly. He is allowing her to do it on her own terms and time. I know it is hard for him because he wants to have the same relationship with her as he does the other kids, but I am so glad that he isn't pushing her because I could see her pushing back!!! LOL Her understanding of the English language is fantastic. Her ability to pronounce her words....not so much:-( We know that she will be receiving speech therapy in her pre-school and we can't wait. There is so much she tries to tell us but she just isn't able to get her mouth to formulate those words correctly. I hope I don't regret her newfound speaking abilities once she starts talking where we can understand her:-) Desi has a smile on her face just about 24/7. She is taking gymnastics and everyone there is always commenting on how happy she is. Heck, people in stores and pretty much anywhere we go talk about what a happy kid she is. The only time she gets upset is when one of her sisters changes her t.v. station, if she wakes up and is the only one in the bedroom and the occasional spat between her and her sisters. Other than that, she's the smiley girl:-) Overall her adjustment into our family has greatly exceeded all of our expectations. It's like she has always been here and fits in perfectly. She makes me want to adopt another older child:-) Steve says we're done. He said that after Jenna too:-)
