Fingerprint Appointment

I was SURE I had posted about this but apparently my mind is still on the down-slope right now:-)

So, on April 26th Steve and I dropped off the kids at school and made our way to Memphis. The USCIS office had moved since we were there for Jenna's adoption but we were able to follow the Google directions pretty easily and made it there with time to spare.

As we walked in the door there was a sign that CLEARLY stated "No Weapons Beyond This Point." As I began going through security Steve was emptying his pockets only to discover his POCKET KNIFE!!!! I know, I know, who brings a pocket knife to a fingerprint appointment. The very nice officer sent him outside so he could put it in the van. I waited while he made it through security, we filled out the forms and dropped them in the box.

I honestly thought we'd be there for a while so I gave Steve our appointment letters and went to the restroom. When I came out they were calling my name but as I looked around Steve was G O N E!!! I didn't see him anywhere so I asked the lady that was calling my name if she had already done my husband's fingerprints. She shook her head no and said she hadn't seen him. OKAAAAAYYYYYY, so where's he at? Just then as I'm looking around I see him sitting at the back of the room in the far corner of this HUGE waiting area. I began motioning to him to come on because I needed my paperwork.

Without drawing this out too much, apparently a lady that was getting ready to prepare illegals for their green cards had mistaken Steve for someone that was there for that purpose and sent him into an interview room!!!!!! I started laughing and just couldn't stop!!! It was sooooo funny to me but Steve didn't find near the humor in it as I did:-) We were in/out in 10 minutes once I rescued Steve from the immigration officer!!! LOL

Now we're just waiting on our approval from the USCIS office. It has been almost two months since our receipt date. I called on 5/4 only to find out the officer assigned to our case was LEAVING until 5/9:-( I tried calling all day yesterday to see if our paperwork was approved to no avail. I'm hoping to receive a call today telling us that everything is ok. This is the LAST piece of paperwork we need before I can send the rest of our documents to Houston for Authentication. After that, it's on to China!!! Our "paperwork pregnancy" for the most part will be over!!!

Please pray that we get this approval soon. I want to concentrate on finding my daughter instead of waiting on other people to do their job:-)
